By far one of the most impressive company visits on the trip so far. We met with:
- Claudio D'Eletto
- Stefani Bonyenpelli
- Davide Grignani
All who are Sr. Bank managers and had schooling and worked for major investment banks in the States.
They provided a very interesting and financial details on the bank and the division of Corporate & Investment banking they manage.
The bank operates in 77 countries and has 160k employees.
Claudio provided us a brief and case study for a project they recently completed for an acquisition. Parmalat an Italian company that produces Milk an associated products, with revenue of €4B was acquired by Group Lactalis a French company, 3rd largest dairy group in the world with 100 brands and revenue of €9B.
He discussed that the forward vision of Group Lactalis, along with a young CEO made a quick decision to acquire Parmalat based on the cash reserves held at Parmalat along with the ability for Parmalat to fit in growth plans for Lactalis.
The deal was completed within 3 months and was done by acquiring 29.9% of Parmalats shares and repositioning the board.
Also discussed was the Italian response to the purchase by the French which became very political and controversial both played up by the media.
Again a great presentation and round table duscssion.
